Mayor Eugene Flinn, Jr. is a native resident of South Miami-Dade County. He has been active in the Palmetto Bay incorporation process since the beginning. He served as Chair of the Steering Committee and as a member of the Palmetto Bay Municipal Advisory Committee where he was elected Chair.
Mrs. Robinson has been a resident of Palmetto Bay since 1971. She is a former member and Chair of the Area 13 Community Council, which was established to address zoning issues and concerns of the Palmetto Bay area prior to incorporation. Vice Mayor Robinson initiated and served on the Citizens Steering Committee for Palmetto Bay.
Council Member Ed Feller, M.D., is the Council Member for District 1 of the Village, which includes the area north of S.W. 152nd Street to S.W. 136th Street. He was an original member of the Steering Committee and was active with it throughout its seven year history.
Council Member Paul Neidhart is the Council Member for District 2 of the Village, which includes the area north of S.W. 168th Street to S.W. 152nd Street. He has been a resident of Palmetto Bay for 35 years.
Council Member Shelley Stanczk is the Council Member for District 3 of the Village, the area south of S.W. 168th Street to the Village southern boundary of S.W. 184th Street.
The Village of Palmetto Bay is the 33rd municipality in Miami-Dade County. On September 10, 2002, the Village became officially incorporated. The Village is bounded on the north by S.W. 136th Street, on the south by S.W. 184th Street, on the west by the central commercial corridor of U.S.1, and on the east by Biscayne Bay.
The Village Manager is the chief administrative officer of the Village, which has a Council-Manager form of governance. The School Board of Miami-Dade County is comprised of nine members elected by the people. They serve four-year terms and are elected from individual single member districts on a staggered basis. Members annually elect their chair and vice-chair. The board moved from seven members to nine members, a result of a court order intended to ensure fair representation amongst Miami-Dade County's ethnic groups.
The Department of Public Works is responsible for the maintenance of roads, public areas and public facilities (including Village Parks), beautification projects, coordinator of stormwater sewer maintenance, and construction management of capital improvement projects. Solid waste and garbage and yard trash pick ups are handled through Miami-Dade County. The Director is hired by the Village Manager.
The Village Clerk is one of the two chartered positions in the Village. The Village Clerk is appointed by the Village Manager, subject to approval of the Village Council.
